All kitties do this, its genetically programmed into their little DNA! That’s my theory.Same thing applies to food on your plate as opposed to food in their bowl. Even if they don’t like what you are eating!

GeorgiaI love the picture of Lupin in the toy box. Maybe he got tired of waiting for a certain little boy to come and play with him!

The water in the glass is fresher than the water in the bowl, which has been sitting there for who knows how long.

I have to wonder how many times have I drank from a glass that my cat has also drank from. TedBear enjoyed my tea.

We have a filtered fountain for Mippy, but he often prefers to drink directly from a dripping faucet. Or my cup.

I always kept a bowl of fresh water for my boy cats. Didn’t stop one from sticking his head in the houseplant watering can sitting nearby and getting his head stuck. Thank goodness it happened while I was home. Lesson learned, I set the can up from then on.

usually after my Minnie drinks the water she’ll knock the glass over for good measure!

I got a kitty water fountain and that stopped most of the drinking directly from my glass. They still want to drink directly from the faucet every time a enter the bathroom but that’s OK.

Ours prefer the “dip and lick” technique with their little kitty box paws. :p Hence, all active glasses are kept under constant surveillance.

I’m glad I wasn’t drinking coffee when Puck got his head stuck. Too FUNNY. I did not know cats prefer drinking from people stuff. Lesson learned…

The last panel is hysterical, too. Little Lupin checking to see if Puck is OK, I presume? As Elvis daintily helps himself…very funny when people are outnumbered.

I have a cat that actually prefers to lick the outside of glasses. Couldn’t tell you why.

One of our cats happily drinks from our cat fountain. The other only drinks either from a cup or the “metal snake fountain.”

I love the final panel where Elvis is daintily drinking from glass-it just tastes more delicious!

Our elderly 17 year old adopted cat Happy would only drink water that was fresh from the tapHe would jump up on the toilet seat and wait for one of us to fill the dish then we had to hold it up for him to drink. We tried to set the dish on the floor but he would not touch it. This was particularly annoying in the middle of the night as he was such a slow drinker i would be trying not to fall asleep while holding up the water bowl for him. But he was such a sweetheart and the two years we had him were far too short, I still miss that old boy. He was one of the kindest cats I have ever known

The only reason they keep us around is they can’t operate the can opener!

My two girls are very fussy about the freshness of the water in their “bowl” (It’s actually a plastic tea cup that sits on the edge of the bathroom sink – they probably think they are sneaking water from my cup.) They won’t drink out of a bowl on the floor or an automatic water thingy, but a bowl left in the tub under the faucet with a small trickle of water keeps them happy if we are going to be gone for a couple of days.

Very fussy about the water in the cup being fresh, but when they are outside, they like mud puddle water.

One of my cats, Tommy, does drink from the toilet, but only if it is clean. We have even come to an agreement that when he places his paw on the bowl, I will open the lid for him. Teresa never does it.

I knew a cat that loved to lick the bathtub right after I had a bath. He’d wait until the water ran out so he wouldn’t get his paws too wet and then he’d lick the fresh drops off the tub.

They know water in your glass is safe, because you drank from it. That water in the bowl though, who knows? Someone has to go first, and it wasn’t you….

It’s because they have the mentality of children. Children always think if you have it, it must be better so they want it. It’s chronic grass is greener thinking. :)
