There was a used bookstore we liked, that had a pair of cats living there. The tops of the shelves were lined with things like toys and beds. It’s like bookstores are just made for cats!

A long time ago, my wife and I looked into the idea of starting our own bookstore. It was going to have a Mystery book focus and we were going to call it: The Butler Did It

Alas, it never came to pass. And when the internet took off and some of our favorite Book shops ended up closing, we saw the future was not in a Mom & Pop book stores. Truly sad because half the fun is going to a bookstore, talking to the people and having a sense of community.

Furthermore, we always planned to have a cat or two that would go with us to work each day. Ours was going to be a Pet Friendly establishment. Book stores with book store kitties hold a special place in our heart and we will always buy at least one book* in those establishments.

*Writers Note: (…at least one book…) was a joke. My wife, Marie, has never bought just ‘One’ book at a time in her life!

Beatrix seems to be all set up electronically, and has hit the ground climbing.

Kiki started coming out this morning. She has noticed the birds. I had to scold her already for stalking the cages.

Yup. This is going to be interesting. :) I hear her now back there playing with a toy. I know that the birds are going to be fascinating for her.

I have to say Goodbye to my best guy Miscreant today. I am spending the rest of the time we have together doing things he loves. We’ll go for one last leash walk before we take the worst ride of my life. He is suffering and the only thing I can do is prolong the suffering by a few days and he wouldn’t be able to spend those days at home. I can’t do that to him. We’ve always been together and I won’t leave him in a vet’s office. I dug his grave yesterday and I’m going to bury him with the ashes of his best friend my first dog Xavier. Those 2 were inseparable now they’ll always be together.
