I have never heard this term before, (sheltered existence) but she is referring to Mulled Wine. From what I have read on this, it appears to be warmed sangria, mixed with apple cider, honey, and sometimes raisins are thrown in. Official Wikipedia definition below:
Mulled wine, also known as spiced wine, is a beverage usually made with red wine along with various mulling spices and sometimes raisins. It is served hot or warm and is alcoholic, although there are non-alcoholic versions of it. It is a traditional drink during winter, especially around Christmas.
We prefer Wassail, another traditional hot drink. 1 quart apple cider (not spiced or sparkling), 1 cup pineapple juice, 5 cloves, 3 cinnamon sticks. Heat on high in crock pot for 3 hours — non alcoholic version but everyone enjoys it.

If I saw hair growing out of the cork of a wine bottle I’d settle for a drink of tap water instead.
