I can imagine on-field injuries causing a player to lose a pair of legs, but how did the medic lose his? (Maybe the broadcasters, too, but I can’t see to be sure.)
In fact, they do – even though they are not technically called knees. Bees have six legs, and each of those six legs includes a joint between the femur and tibia, known as a knee. So one knee per leg equals a total of six knees per bee. But bee’s knees don’t function the same way as human’s do.Credit: https://beeswiki.com › Uncategorized

And here I’ve always thought that “the bee’s knees” was old-fashioned slang for “the best” or “marvelouos” or some such idea.
