The pay gap has nothing to do with taking time off to raise children…nor with lack of education or training. It’s straight from Bureau of Labor statistics…and reflects the average difference between what women employed full time are paid vs what men are paid for the same job.
It’s about the same for childless woman and women with children; for women with more training and less training than the men in equivalent positions….it’s an across-the-board average.
Broken down, it does vary by state and by occupation…and by race.
In Washington DC women earn about 91% of a man’s salary in their job…in some Southern states it’s closer to 66%.Woman earn closer to parity in some technical and other highly specialised fields, and far less than men in traditionally “women’s” jobs like home care.
And Hispanic women earn the least in comparison with white men, who are the standard for comparison because they comprise the largest group in the labor pool.
If the 78% statistic was true wouldn’t smart companies fire all the males and hire lower paid females? There must be some other value that males bring to count for the disparity … If it is a real disparity and not justbogus math.
Oh yes and everyone else is this country is just living off the backs of the poor mistreated middle class whites. Geez…You answered your own question with that insipid statement you attached to it.
I have always thought of Jackson as having androgynous looks. Keep most of him, give him a perm, and there you go. Now all we need to figure out is the difference in pay for a man that looks like a woman vs a natural born woman. I wonder if I went to work one day wearing a wig and tennis balls , if I would get a cut in pay.
bawana – They hate lots of things, but they express their hatred for us because they don’t fear us.
As for the phony statistic (but I repeat myself), it’s unfortunate that Tim Rickard seems to buy into it, but face it, if you assume the premise, the joke is funny.
Yeah, this pay gap crap is utter bullcrap being perpetuated by people who like to falsify statistic because they get paid to do so. Literally.
Activist groups are complaining about meaningless differences that don’t take real-world scenarios into hand. Half of them are deliberately applying gender stereotypes to make their points.
That’s plain wrong, only a guy would say that it would be worth less, I’m sure Pam would agree that replacing the image with that of a woman would raise the value some 175%

If so, Pam, then forget it.

It’s the way we get all defensive every time someone suggests we should make room at the table.

That would be $15.60, folks. A dollar just doesn’t go as far as it used to, but then that has nothing to do with whose picture is on it.

They were going to put Eleanor Roosevelt, but everyone thought it was Jimmy Carter.

That’d be difficult. It’s only worth about 30% as it is.

It will be just as worthless as the rest of the “Monopoly money” the Fed keeps churning out with nothing to back it up!

My question about money; if we take “in god we trust” off of the money, will it be worth less?

At the places I worked if the woman did the same job as a man she got the same pay.

If one assumes one knows exactly who is making how much. And that’s extremely rare.
