Willie Mays didn’t dance or pound his chest to point out his own greatness. That was witnessed by all who saw him play, the great sportsman that he was. That other stuff started with Muhammad Ali, albeit another great athelete. However, that was the day when Sportsmanship started to die….
I wish Calvin could have that same enthusiasm whenever he plays baseball, but in his case, it’s hard for him to do so when he’s playing it with a smart-alecky tiger.
My dog used to dance for me, no stick required. It was either enthusiasm or desire for food, depending on the situation. I was told in therapy dog classes I had to make her stop dancing, so I taught her not to dance. She rarely will do it now, and she used to dance as soon as I would shift from one foot to the other. I miss it, but she is a great therapy dog, even without the dance.
