Give Calvin a break. I remember being that antsy, especially on Christmas eve. I simply could not get to sleep for the anticipation and fear of the following morning. Will i get the thing(s) I wanted most? What if I was not good enough that year and didn’t get anything? I would work myself up into a state and not get to sleep until after midnight (bedtime was 8:00 or 8:30). By 5:00 I was awake and had to endure the endless waiting until I simply could not hold back and got my parents up around 6:00.
Hobbs can’t push Calvin out of the bed. The monsters under the bed would eat him, get a sugar rush, and then barf him up. How would Hobbs explain monster barf to Calvin’s mom?
You all know, I am sure, that by the time it comes he will play with it for maybe a whole 2 minutes, something else will catch his eye and it will be forgotten forever. Until his mom put’s it in a yard sale that is…
Lady Do you mean like the exercise machines my better half swears she’s gonna use? I hate tag sales. Lady from next door, “oh, an abs flatten er, Didn’t do him any good.”
Or, it will be a big disappointment to him when it comes…the propellers won’t spin; it won’t fit him maybe. I had things like that happen to me when I was a kid. Look forward to something so much, then..fizzzzzzzzzzz :-(

Calvin thats what happens with too much caffeen and sugar. I’m not to much that way but I do have nights I can’t sleep. I try to avoid chocolate :(
Question once spammers get spammed or flagged aren’t they suppose to go away? Yesterday I flagged spammers but it stayed. And ones who talked about it I at the time didn’t see the spammers.
I’m beginning to think gocomics doesn’t monitor the spammers and flags on Sunday, but they do a pretty good job the rest of the week. I don’t see the spam that vldazzle is referring to.
Exceptions don’t prove the rule in the modern sense. When the phrase was coined, “prove” meant “test” not “verify as true”. If you think about it, exceptions do test the rule.
Had a beanie that I sewed the prizes from Cracker Jacks collected over many Saturday matinees. These included minature trains and planes. Wore it for about a year. Took the fan off right away though. Long, long ago and far, far away on a planet called the fifties.
ronaldmundy said, ”remember when you had to go door-to-door selling seeds to get this kind of stuff?”
Woohoo, forgot all about that little springtime enterprise. Oh how I loved looking the catalogue and picking out my reward! I remember selling enough packets (at 10 cents ea.) to earn myself the neatest things….like a chemistry set one year….then a wristwatch….then a bow and arrows…..
And I was no more patient than Calvin when it came to the eternity it took for my prize to arrive in the mail.
The rule is tested and found not to be absolute in that there is at least one exception. I used ‘so-called’ exception because the word ‘proves’ usually is considered to mean ‘shows convincing evidence’. Thanks for your clarification. I think we are (more-or-less) on the same page.
Has it really been 6 weeks already … or does it just seem that way to an overly anxious 6-year-old looking forward to getting his little red propeller beanie hat more than anything on earth???
This kid is so wired so much of the time I have begun to consider some letters for him, such as ADD or ADHD, etc. Time for some tranks there Calvin….at least that way Hobbes can get some sleep….
Hey, it’s good to be passionate about something. It gives you something to look forward to, until it actually happens. And then…
The thrill is gone. poof
Hobbes is all like: “Oh man, I wish I was at a tiger strip club getting it on with tigresses instead of listening to this annoying six year old brat. yak yak yakkety kak CALVIN!!! ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!
Wow! You could plug Calvin into a small city and power it for a week!
I love the changes in Hobbes’ face as the panels progress!
And good afternoon to everybody in the late crew!
