Agree or disagree with me for what I am about to say.Kids that young shouldn’t have to worry about permanent records. But these days many parents DO overconcern themselves with their kids future waaaay too early in overblown ways.Sorry, but some level of strong arm discipline is good for kids in school. It doesn’t work for everyone but it can work.Classes doing chores in school like cleaning up the classrooms, restrooms, taking care of the animals, and etc somehow does wonders. Can’t explain how though.Personal experience. I have no kid yet but been a kid so I know my past.
@Lingeewhiz,They may not hit, but they may spit. I’ll assume you are being facetious about the spit. But that reminds me of “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit!” To which I reply, “If the glove was shrunk, that comment is bunk!”
I spent a lot of time in the Vice Principal’s office, as he was in charge of discipline, but this was in high school and I don’t think they dared lay a hand on us, so I never had to deal with the pointer’s they used to use to whack kids with in grade school. In grade school I never got into trouble.
Down the road, Calvin came to realize that turning situations like this into Spaceman Spiff adventures was a lot more effective than yelling and finger-pointing.
Right about now, I need me some Christmas Calvin and Hobbes where he talks about the ludicrousness of Santa and then admits he has the same questions about God. Hmm.
Susie has enough conscience to admit her guilt. Calvin just doesn’t want to experience any pain, regardless of his guilt or the lack of it. Fascinating that in spite of the adversarial relationship between the two of them, they both wind up taking Calvin’s position in the matter….
@Ken in Ohio,I wholeheartedly agree about “squelch”. I didn’t mean it in a nasty way, and I was hoping that the next sentence would be considered a qualifier.Incidentally, someone on this site is lying in his bunk!

Excellent, the fourth panel! When we stand once by God and we must report about our lives, we’ll cry like Calvin and Susi in the fourth panel!

Mine was a Nun slapping my hand with a wooden ruler. By the time I finished 2nd grade my hand looked abused. Those Nuns are the worst ever!

Mr Spittle doesn’t care because he is tenured and doesn’t have to put forth the effort.
