Consider it an Olympic event.

Done that, snowed so much in the winter of 93-94, i got so sick of plowing and shoveling and just made deep leg holes on the snow leading out to the road.

Economizing work!

You’d better lock yourself in your room before Dad gets overthe front stoop….

Use lots of salt.Hard on floors but easy for lazy guys to spread.

Good thinking Calvin. I like it. I don’t think your technique is quite right dad. If you managed to step into the next hole I think that you would get stuck.

With snow shoes you don’t have to even think about the walkway for three months.

Do teenagers still do that? I wish some of them would come by my house to shovel out a path to the oil fill pipe.

Now I wonder where they all are.

Let’s hear it for Arizona — I haven’t seen so much as a snowflake since I moved here ten years ago! :-P

I thought the garage and car was on the other side of the house?

…so how did calvin manage to shovel those spots without walking to each one? Use the shovel as a pole vault to get to the first spot, dig it out, then use the shovel as a pole vault to get to the second spot, and so on?…

Why not buy Calvin a snowblower Dad? Stop being such a cheapskate. Get him a self propelled model with chains on the tires.

Now if you ask Calvin to build a snowman scene out of the snow on the walk, he’ll be all over it.

Why is a six-year old being forced to shovel all the snow off the sidewalk? Isn’t that violating child labor laws?

I lived in New England. We got about 4 feet of snow one winter. The driveway was about 20 feet wide. Now if you throw the snow 10 feet on either side, you wind up with 8 feet of snow on either side of the driveway.

Needless to say, I was not good at Olympic Snow Throwing. Especially when the snow sticks to the shovel and you lift 10 pounds and 8 of it stays on the shovel. So I was trying to toss snow 10 to 12 feet in the air just to get a narrow path enough for one car.

My wife worked nights. So she would come home and pahk her cah (this was New England, remember) behind mine. So each morning I would get up, get in my car, start my car, get out of my car, get into her car, start her car, back her car out, get out of her car, get into my car, back my car out, get out of my car, get into her car, put her car back in the driveway, turn off her car, return her car keys to the house, get in my car and go to work.

I got tired of this ritual so I dug a revetment off to the side of the driveway and that’s where I parked. She could then pull up past me and I was able just to back out in the morning.

This worked well until spring thaw when I got up to find my car axle-deep in mud.

So one could dig holes on 100 ft of walk versus clean shoveling on 20 ft – saves energy.(Why didn’t he just roll snow balls off the walk to make a snowman?)

Where are the “Little Calvin” tracks he would have to leave to dig those snow holes?

I live in Bk, so I have to get out and clear the driveway and sidewalk every time it snows. Fortunately with de Blasio as mayor, our streets get plowed before the uppity Manhattanites.

Calvin knows Time Management.

This is what happens when you send a six year old to do an adult’s job. Instead of sending Calvin out there to do the job by himself, Dad needs to be out there to supervise. It shows Calvin how to do it, and makes for quality time.

Calvin dude nice idea but your Dad is going to give it to you.Keep in mind you perform like this on the job you will not keep it. Oh wait I’m talking to a kid. Enjoy yourself now kid as an adult you are in for a rude awakening.

Oh Calvin you are a creative genius but you can be a bit of a slacker!
