Hobbes is going to be one of those commanders who gets shot in the back.

They might as well fight all the way to the Yukon.

Mom’s totalitarianism is starting to look a little better. At least she didn’t hoard the sandwiches.

Great Sandwiches. “Energy to spare” indeed.

Now that he’s working for Hobbes, Calvin is going to start rethinking this whole secession thing!

When I ran away from home, also at age six,

My Mom made me a nice sandwich, maybe tuna or bologna,

(it was a long time ago) and tied it into one of my Dad’s old handkerchiefs…

then she helped me tie the bundle onto the end of a stick, they way she said runaway children should carry things.

Then she said “Just remember, if you leave, you can never ever come back.”

So I went back into the house, like she knew I would….

and she let me have the sandwich for lunch.

Calvin is too stuck on himself to be an effective leader. My 6th graders turned 7th are learning that life is not all about them. A mighty potent lesson.

I wonder if Lewis and Clark had similar disputes about who carried the toboggan and got to wear the helmet?

“Food supplies low”. Should have packed a can of tuna or two, Hobbes.

From the looks of it, the trip to the Yukon might take all day!

Calvin should let Hobbes have the sandwich. As the old Pogo comics once said, “When you starve with a tiger, the tiger starves last.”

Mother should have packed more sandwiches. Then Calvin would have been gone longer.

I like the decision-making skills of Hobbes. Very Madoffian.

Partnership should always be 50/50 so it’s only fair that it’s Hobbes’ turn to be Leader for a while. And then maybe it can be Calvin’s turn the next day.

Well, it sounds fair to me.

Mutiny in the troops.

“We’re off yo see the blizzard, the wonderful blizzard up north!” That is, if we can get past dominance issues.

That “OW! Quit biting!” in the 2nd panel on the bottom could apply to either Calvin or Hobbes.
