Think of it as a tactical coverage device.

unlike neckties, you cannot change your tail’s pattern

No, it’s to bounce on it.

Based on my cats, it’s good for signaling your mood, and keeping your nose warm in cold weather. I don’t remember any of my cats chasing their tail. Of course, none of my dogs ever did it either.

An animals tail helps them to balance.

I am surprised I have to explain this. It’s because without one, the expression “He’s got a tiger by the tail” wouldn’t make any sense.

hahahaha, this line cracked me up and is still hilarious today. It’s just so brilliantly outlandish and off-the-cuff. I even remember Calvin’s smiling “profile shot” face as he said it. So good.

Tails help an animal to balance. Neckties,on the other hand, remind men that they could find their heads in nooses if they step out of line.

    Tails are a cat’s panache!

But it’s important their tails get snapped on a regular basis, or else kinks could form. A cat can get deathly ill if it gets kinks in its tail.

Tails are also a means of non-verbal communication

Tails.. allow the animal to make quick turns because it acts as a counter balance when the mass of the body changes direction.

Tails mainly used for balance. Though apes have lost theirs which is why we walk more upright than monkeys.

I think I read once, & am maybe wrong, but I think the tail serves to help maintain balance, when running & jumping?

Can’t argue against Calvin’s logic in the last panel. Or can you?

Either way, this one made me chuckle. In a third-grade way, but still.

No,the true answer is that tails are used to balance animals when they sit up.
