I love Calvin’s comment in the first panel. When you’re a kid, one mile feels like fifty.

Calvin, there are the freight trains to help you on your journey to the lam.

You’re over-thinking things, Calvin, when it comes to doing a little accident.

If it makes you feel better Calvin, you’re not the only six year fugitive that anyone would know.

Calvin, I’m surprised you made it to six before becoming a fugitive from justice.

You’re not a fugitive from justice. You’re a fugitive from common sense.

You have to set your priorities when you run off like that. Food is pretty high on the list, unless your food is peanut butter sandwiches. Then water, or perhaps kool-aid, moves up to the top.

A fugitive? That’s like admitting guilt. Calvin should have denied he touched the car, threaten Hobbes to not fink him out, then blame Susie.

Calvin’s lucky. I got worse than he imagines for much less than what he has done.

A fugitive at six? No surprise to us Calvin started early!

I feel sorry for the little guy. I know he’s a pain and all, but I think he’s gained a little self awareness from this incident. The only times I ran away from home at that age were because I was mad. To be running away due to fear, remorse and guilt is far worse. When you’re mad, you can decide you’re not mad anymore, or perhaps that you’re more hungry, hot and tired than you are mad. When you’re running from the reaction of other people to something you did wrong, you have no control except to either keep running or own up to what you did and take your lumps.
