First, though, you have to be close enough to jam the stick. This is not unlike the truth that if you can put a bit of salt on a bird’s tail you can catch it. But with more violence (on the part of the bicycle).

“We could mosey over to…” Hobbes sounds like an old timer in a 1940’s movie.

Hobbes should also mention that Calvin should not be riding the bicycle when he inserts the stick.

Hey, with Calvin, you have to include details like that.

It works best if you’re riding the bike downhill when you shove in the big stick. Try it that way, Calvin.

Hobbes really is the best imaginary friend a somewhat mentally deranged six-year-old can have.

Why don’t we go on over to the kitchen instead of mosey on over? Yeesh, sounds like some sort of really old one-shot rifle or… I’ll stop talking.

I did something like that once. I snatched a kids jacket from him and it stuck in the spokes. Did I mention that I was riding my bike past him at a high rate of speed when this happened? I was on the receiving end of instant Karma. Nothing worse than pavement rash and a few bruises, fortunately.

There’s a little feeling perched in the back of my mind, that makes me think Calvin will try it, first, to be sure it works.
