All dads like to make fun of their young children. Mine told me he had been an Italian Army General during World War II and after 1943 September 8th, when he joined the Partisans in North Italy.
I have used that old trick to amaze my kids and grandkids for years! It’s much easier to hide the dime on the back of your hand than something larger like a nickel or a quarter.
Next stop for Mom and Dad is jail after being charged with child abuse after taking Calvin to the pediatrician for neck pain, nose bleed, headache and blurred vision.
And I’m sure that Child Protective Services will have a fun time dealing with Calvin.

What’re the chances there’s more than the one dime in there? Heck, I was surprised that one was, to start with!

You might want to stop shaking him Hobbes if he’s getting a bloody nose!

based on Calvin’s smile in panel 3, I suspect he is a relative of the Grinch.

It’s funny how in the first panel, Calvin is staring right at his dad taking out the dime from his pocket.
