Figures that it’s only cards that make her feel in control. Irving, be prepared for a deluge of greeting cards resulting in a mixed message that will further drive you towards your electronics.Good morning, KFG! I’m surprised you didn’t post this morning because I saw your posts last night. Hope you’re doing okay…Good morning, Aaron and Susan! I have a meeting at the school this morning at 8:15, so it’s either post now or at 10am and I like saying “good morning” before Aaron goes off to la-la land. :-)Hello to GsMom, Billy, gmforde, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!

My dad always bought my mom two cards for all occasions — one funny and one sentimental. Both gone too soon. So don’t drive Irving to frustration or ignore him, Cathy. Other than that, scintillate away :-D

Five whole minutes lightenup. I was home on time this a.m. (which means after 6:00, allowing for the Metro ride). The kitchen is on the first floor and our Macs are on the 3rd floor, so it takes a bit of time to get here. Of course, there is joy in finding where Little Muttley Beagle is hiding waiting for me to find him. Go figure, a one year old pup who knows how to make me laugh by hiding and waiting for his daily tickle. Re: me and la la land. :-D That was good. Sweet and also loaded with ammunition for others (and possibly Billy). :-D

Last night Billy said the one thing that brings him to tears is me not coming home one morning. Some of you probably figured out he unintentionally left out one word: alive. There is not and never will be any other reason beyond dying in the line of duty for me to be without my Billy. KFG I knew you’d be wise in what you offered for advice. Thank you for letting me be me. :-D Mona was my hero yesterday; maybe I took advantage of your sweetness. But I also knew that you all know Billy and I are beyond friends, even when he calls me friend Aaron at times. My usual night off, and I’m gonna nap for a few hours. Billy works a half day as usual today. We’ve got a big dinner to make for our 7 couples tonight.

He’ll probably only glance at it and then toss it away. That’s what men always do with cards.

My husband will often get two cards from me since I can’t make up my mind if I should go funny or romantic since in my mind the two things go together. He sometimes forgets a card, or will get a very funny one. I don’t need the card to say how much he loves me, he SHOWS me everyday.

Love the irony here. Cathy claims to be “in control”, when she has two handfuls of cards to mull over? I can see her still looking at every card two hours later. :-)

Yeah. Scum. If someone bought a card, wrote a sentiment in it (or a funny saying), handed me a card (in love or friendship or caring or whatever) and I glanced at it and then threw it away, that would be more than a few notches above callous. Therefore scum.

The only Valentines card I am sending is one with a check in it to our local animal rescue group.

Take it easy, Wolf Emperor. Aaron is just saying that ruizuno1 shouldn’t generalize about all men, and you seemed to focus on the word “scum”. I also don’t like it when people make generalizations about all women or what women always do. I am a woman, and I am very logical, enjoy a lot of typically male things and don’t like stereotypes much. If I do make a comment about men or women, I try to say “many” or “usually” rather than “all” or “always” because I realize it is insulting for the ones who are the exception rather than the rule.

I want to add that I rarely get any card at all or when I least expect it. Coming from another country where they rarely did cards for every occasion like they do in the US, it took my husband several years to give me a card for any reason (anniversary, birthday, Valentine’s day). And even when he did remember to buy one, he barely wrote more than his name. I know it’s the thought that counts, but I joke that he could just recycle the one from last year. I sometimes wish he would write something more, but I know he tries and he does other things and I know it’s the thought that counts, so it’s all good.

Well yeah lightenup if you want to spoil all of my fun.

I should also qualify that guys who do that are level 1 scum, or perhaps level 2 if they insult or hurt feelings of the card giver. As opposed to scum of the earth, which is reserved for terrorists and possibly a handful of politicians, or even most TV commercial producers.

    That’s Cathy ‘in control’? Yikes!

Be careful too of wanting Aaron to be serious. That just makes him sarcastic. No, not pretty. It’s an acquired taste.

I just went back and read the posts for yesterday from after I made mine. Now I want to cry and can’t think of anything to say except those of you who have should hold on tight, those of you that have not should not give up hope, those of us who had and now have not should cherish the memories..

I guess I am the lucky one. My husband’s birthday is the day after Valentine’s Day, so he gets a funny Valentine and a serious birthday card….or vice versa. When he gets a card from me, he reads it, comments and then stands it on the mantle for a week. Then it goes into the bottom drawer of his nightstand. After 42 years of marriage, the drawer often overflows and he throws them all out…..and starts over! He’s a gem! The anti-scum!!

If my heart is overwhelmed and I cannot hear Your voiceI’ll hold on to what is true though I cannot seeIf the storms of life they come and the road ahead gets steepI will lift these hands in faithI will believe

I remind myself of all that You’ve doneAnd the life I have because Your Son

Love came down and rescued meLove came down and set me freeI am Yours I am forever YoursMountain high or valley lowI sing out remind my soulThat I am Yours I am forever Yours

When my heart is filled with hopeand every promise comes my wayWhen I feel Your hands of grace rest upon me

Staying desperate for You GodStaying humbled at Your feetI will lift these hands and praiseI will believe

I remind myself of all that You’ve doneAnd the life I have because Your Son

Love came down and rescued meLove came down and set me freeI am Yours I am forever YoursMountain high or valley lowI sing out remind my soulThat I am Yours I am forever Yours

I am YoursI am YoursAll my daysI am Yours
