Mom and Dad: This year we simplified by not sending Christmas cards! Mom: Of course we wrote notes to everyone explaining why they wouldn't be getting a card... Then we re-wrote the notes on holiday paper.... Dad: Then we got blank cards...decorated them...and tucked the notes inside wiht photos and little gifts... Mom and Dad: Next year we're simplifying by sending Christmas cards.

I’ve heard this same story from relatives! There’s probably no way to ‘simplify’ this time of the year….

Many people I know who have a lot of sense seem to loose it at this time of year. The only way to simplify the season is to not celebrate it (and stay out of the way of those who do) but then that would take a note to everyone explaining why . . . On second thought, argy.bargy2 is right.
