Yes, this is terrible. Usually you might indulge in ONE big ticket item a year, not all of them at once. And having those payments hanging over my head would NOT make me feel jolly or joyful.Hello Cathy friends! Enjoy your Tuesday!

“As long as you’re paying, our spirit is lasting.” Great line by CG. The retailers are still singing it today.

By the time she’s finished paying that bill, all those items will be either obsolete or a fraction of those prices.

Got to love the 2003 prices for electronics, and they are pretty accurate.

We took lightenup ‘s advice this year – only one big ticket item each. Unfortunately that turns out to be one new car and one new house (well – the house is ’used’ but new to us). We do keep our vehicles for anwhere between 8 and 14 years so it is time for a new one – and this house was never meant to be our last one and it is very poorly designed and constructed. Happy Christmas shopping to all those of the clan who do that sort of thing – and happy December to those that don’t.

Holy cow!!! Who buys everyone on their Christmas list electronic gadgets totaling more than $12,596.00 (NOT including all the little extras listed in panel #2 or the tax for all of it)?! Because I definitely want to be one of their friends the year they decide to splurge like that!!!!! ;-)
Hi, rgcviper!
Hello and Happy Tuesday, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today! :-)

My credit card does not extend to that amount, so I am safe. Are you SURE she really bought all that, or was the clerk just adding it up?

Amazing I did know someone who bought huge ticket items for her family. I have never seen any sense in doing that — when I pick up things at art fairs throughout the year, I often hear “that would make a great stocking stuffer.” So I chuckle and agree — but actually, it’s the gift. It’s the kind of gift I would prefer to get, that my friends (who are dancers and artists) can afford, and that allows me to buy things for lots of people without running up my charge card to where I can’t pay it off that month. Also, with the big ticket items — wouldn’t you really rather pick that out yourself?
