Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for December 08, 2020
Transcript:
This year I will simplify by giving everyone a gift card. To make them more personal, I'll search for gift cards from stores that match each person's interests... Then I'll upload photos and turn them into photo gift cards... Then I'll search for special little gift card boxes... Then I'll write long, meaningful, non-gift-card-y notes... Next year I will simplify by knitting everyone an afghan.

Is that a rug or a blanket she’s going to knit?

Pretty much any project that begins with the words “All you have to do is just…” turns out to be a pain in the az. I much prefer the standard, “Here, I’ll show you.” I’m not lazy. I’m just smart enough to know I’m ignorant.

Ooh, I’d love an afghan. I don’t mind gift cards, but a homemade gift means more.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Tuesday! Have a great day, all!

This is me, being the overachiever that I can be at times, but I do it on a smaller scale than Cathy.

LOL: “non-gift cardy notes”

She lost me after selecting gift cards from stores that match the recipient’s interests. That sounded good. Everything after that had my eyes rolling. I will admit that the gift cards going to our kids are wrapped – usually in boxes with a chunk of metal or wood to give the box weight. Love disguising gifts.
The few people who do give us the family update letters in their cards do it right – an update on what has been happening in their lives without any boasting. Never liked the letters that tried to make the senders’ families sound like they are perfect and the happiest and most successful people in the world when you know it is not true.
A little ice forming around the shore of the lake and snow predicted for Friday and the weekend. I hope this time the prediction is correct – we really need that insulating blanket of snow to keep the frost from penetrating too deep into the ground.
I hope you are enjoying your day.

It might be easier.
