Humph. Irving calls it “chick talk” yet Cathy was the one saying “you’ll sound desperate.” Seems like the “chick” knows best in this situation. Put the phone down and listen to her, Irving.

I guess I never realized just how insecure Irving really is. I think I knew he seemed overconfident many times, but it was to hide his true feelings. I can do that!

Yup, Irving is definitely really insecure with his job position. It would be better if he enjoyed the vacation with Cathy and worried about his position when he gets back – but then this is Irving so that won’t happen.
