I know I’m giving away my age bracket here, but I remember pay phones and land lines back in the day. I also remember those phone kiosks in the 70’s that largely replaced the phone booths of yore (I remember seeing the 1978 Superman movie, when Christopher Reeve does a double take at a phone kiosk before going into a revolving door and emerging as Superman). That all seems long ago and far away, but the only constant thing in life is change.
I remember the tale of my grandma standing with the cordless phone by the charger unit, yelling at my aunt to come talk. My aunt arrived, laughed, and then explained that you could move a cordless phone around.
Just last year we had an internet outage. I called the company to report it and to see if it was just our house or a general outage. The recorded message said I could report internet outages on their website and the hold time to speak to an agent was over 45 minutes. Really brilliant customer service! Fortunately I have a second internet connection with another provider so was able to discover online that it was a general outage. Found out late someone maliciously cut the fiber serving our area.

In the UK, she could explain how a cordless phone was not considered a wireless phone. :)
