Yesterday I was startled to hear a distant female voice in my living room say something about “serial killers”. It took me a moment to realize that Siri on my cell phone had been listening to a conversation about a grisly news story and had reacted to “Siri-al killers”.

I’ve had this problem in the past when mentioning the nation of Siri-a.

My tablet has a speech feature

It’s startled me a couple of times when I accidentally activated it and it asked me how it could help

Most of the time when I’m on my tablet the house is quiet, a voice out of nowhere catches me off guard

I’m waiting for Siri and/or Alexa to take over and rule my household. I really need someone to tell me what to do!

That AI needs a bit more training. Humans are primates.

I’m not a fan of voice assistants. The technology was released waay prematurely. Speech recognition is complicated, especially when it is supposed to include understanding.

Our gal Mona is surrounded by evil AI.

Is this the way the world ends, not with a bang but a bot-rising?
