Back in the times of the depression, another time when inflation was the order of the day, a family I heard of received a Christmas gift from a friend that was so beautifully wrapped that they didn’t have the heart to open it- so they put it under the tree and started a tradition of keeping it to place there every year. Some decades later, a family member finally unwrapped it to find…a dozen eggs.

No… but got any bacon?

It’s a trick! Those are deviled eggs!

The next DOGE layoff will be the Easter bunny! No eggs this year!

I don’t cry over spilled milk but I bawl like a baby over broken eggs.

I’m making deviled eggs for Easter as usual. I think I can handle the $6 investment. Just a little more than a large coffee.

$24/dozen!

And yet we have no problem paying $6/day for coffee at Starbucks.

My friend has been selling eggs for $3 apiece after she removes the whites&yolks, dries the egg and then decorates them with at least 1 hour of labor put into her piece work.

Her profit margin is way down now.

Yep the price of eggs for us is just killing us right now. I spend probably 2 cents a day for eggs, since we always keep a couple hundred pounds of sorghum on hand just to feed the chickens. Well that along with the fresh greens, and fruit scraps.

If we can believe latest news, there is now a burgeoning market in smuggling eggs across the US/Mex border. Now this is where they need to send Musky and his goober patrol.
