Let’s see, Ben R. won two Superbowls for Pittsburgh, is smart enough to do what the doctors tell him, but somehow HIS manhood is being questioned for not playing with a serious head injury?
3hourtour: that could work!
If they keep building football players bigger and bigger, injuries are only going to get worse. Maybe there should be an upper weight limit. When a 260 pound lineman is considered “small” the game is being overtaken by the freaks.
it was just the way of the times…..back then , there was not a whole lot of concern for the safety or longevity of ball players….and race drivers, for that matter– , the drivers wore flimsy helmets, t-shirts and trousers , no seat belts, no roll bars ……and , of course, dozens of them died each year
….safety precautions were not ‘manly’
…. and some of that thinking is still around today
Helmet technology is state-of-the-art. Helmets do a great job of protecting the bones of the skull. The problem is there is nothing to stop the brain from moving within the skull. That is the crux of the problem. That is the cause of a concussion (which is just a euphemism for a brain injury).
Big Ben is done, give him a seat in the owners box. As are most of the Cower era players. That’s all Tomlin has been doing is riding Cowers coattails. Now that Cowers picks and signee’s are either gone or aging, you will see what a mediocre coach Tomlin really is.

Yeah, I’m kinda with Randayn here. It isn’t as if Ben’s got a lot to prove.

Have to earn the money they’re paid. Play them hurt or cut their pay.

…better helmets are not the answer…worse helmets are…have them wear leather helmets and they won’t lead with their heads anymore…
