as far as i ever knew, Joe-Allen egg nog IS non-alcoholic. people add the alcohol to it - rum, whiskey, what ever they prefer.

That was a good one Adam!
I don’t drink it, but I always thought egg nog was non-alcohlic, too.

I don’t like eggnog. How about a year’s supply of coffee which for Adam or for me would probably put the coffee shop out of business?

Very good one. Though he’s reverted to theme week’s over at Red & Rover.

“…often…” Is not the same as always. Eggnog is not necessarily made with alcohol.

Both alcoholic and nonalcoholic eggnog are ancient beverages with obscure origins, but Londoners, I believe, were the first to really associate the drink with Christmas. (Dairy products were a bit of a rare treat for them at the time.) Since they had no refrigeration and no Pasteurization, they always added alcohol to keep the drinks from spoiling.

Nog nog! I love it! And now I know what I’ll be doing at the New Year’s Eve party, though they’ll hate me for it.
(Susan001: A little grinchy of you there, don’tcha think? Don’t nog it if you haven’t tried it.)

actually, Joe your excerpt proves MY point - since it specifically states “mixed with an alcoholic liquor” right in the bolded segment of your post. but i’ll leave the discussion at this point because i kind of agree with Susan too. (i.e. who really cares?) Merry Christmas to you both!

I love eggnog with or without a splash of brandy or bourbon, but I prefer it without. I just don’t drink it often anymore because of the calories. My wife won’t even try it. Mom used to make a much less fattening eggnog using milk instead of cream when we were growing up. That was back before people were afraid to use raw eggs in beverages and ice cream.

Doctor Toon said,
I could give the recipe for Nuclear Coffee, but then you would all have super powers.
~~~
Gimme the recipe if you please, I love strong coffee. Please post it on tomorrow’s Adam@ home if you see this.
“”Nog, Nog.”
“Who’s there?”
“Egg.”
“Egg who?”
“Gesundheit!”
Furienna, my aunt married a Strandberg a long time ago, and they host Christmas at their house. The lighting of the glogg is the official beginning of the eating part of the festivities. Funny how warm it gets in the room just from lighting a simple punch on fire… ;-)
On the other hand, I have been part of a church choir, and at their yearly choir party we have “leaded” and “unleaded” egg nog. (After the second glass of the “leaded” I don’t care who’s there… Heeheeheehee.)
