I wrote a long post … my first in over 24 hours…. right behind yours … trying to catch you as you sped away.
But my browser shut down unexpectedly…. a Firefox crash! All my windows closed, and my post was lost!
So now my pleas for you to stop by the Tiki for one last “parting ceremony” fall on far-away ears…but happy trails, my friend.Far better to miss someone going off to known adventures than worry about someone who disappeared without a trace…Thank you for that…and don’t forget us.
Aaaahhhh…Thanks Red….one’ll do me…. but would you like one too?
Ok…. mulling over the day…. I read yesterday’s forum, even though I didn’t get a chance to post….
(Between crazy phone calls, I had something else to write, and it took a lot of thought and concentration.Sometimes Ballard Street does too!)
Anyhow, I read about Stel’s Bing problem, and I wanted to get in my 2¢.
Stel, when you get here….you (and maybe X, too) have said you right click the picture and save the URL from that menu.(Copy image location in Firefox, copy shortcut in IE, I believe.)
Have you tried what I do, which is actually opening the picture, and saving the URL from the address bar?
I do it that way so I can see what I’m getting… but it seems to me the page wouldn’t open without a valid address.
Firefox makes it easier… that same right-click menu includes “view image,” which opens the image alone on a page.
In IE, so probably MSN too, you have to click the link on the right that says something like “view full-size image”.
Yeah, yeah, it’s an extra step… but a quick one.And if it works, well worth it.
And of course, my preferred solution is…use Google images, not Bing!
It’s so much easier…the images don’t run away wen you try to click them…and I find the same ones on both.
Trying to use Bing images on Internet Explorer is an exercise in frustration for me compared to Google images on Firefox.
Goodnight….and did you say “Ick” about Guinness??!!Ooohhh!
Meanwhile…. brain bleach is selective…like color safe Clorox…only removes the stains and not the good stuff.
As for my Firefox crash…. I’ve never had a browser that NEVER crashed…Firefox has been more stable for me than IE, which used to periodically freeze, stop responding, etc.
This is probably the first time in many months…. and unlike IE, when you restart it after a crash it brings almost everything back, re-opens all your windows…sometimes even with unsaved text intact.
But this time I got an error-reporting message, and by the time my windows re-opened my text was lost.Sniffle…
You find this unusual. My wife has a mental condition (Schizophrenia) so she has done and can do some odd things. She is in the final stage which just makes her eccentric. This is why I find the panel funny. When we go out she has this “routine” of gathering up things, stopping and saying under her breath chants. It is really quite funny to watch because I am standing behind her the same way he is. “Oh C’mon honey lets just go”We cannot go until everything is “blessed”.Then packs the car with all kinds of trinkets, bags, bags within bags, and so on. Finally a Sprite in the center console and we are ready to go to the Mall. Which is just over a mile away.We could have been there and back by the time her ceremony was done.My world is good. Home good. Wife…..good.
Careful with those two. They also do an entering ceremony, a crossing the threshold ceremony and entering the living room ceremony. Don’t even ask what ceremony they do when they go to the bathroom!
Ever notice, if you get close enough to Marcia, that she reeks of sage ? You can always tell when she’s been around – sage with a hint of patchouli ( a throw-back to her hippy days, no doubt. )
“Storm…. I’ve heard of an app… well a Firefox plug-in .. that saves pics to PhotoBucket…
In fact I think x_Tech mentioned it someplace too…
I’m not sure what else you mean…But thanks.
Actually, I have no problem saving pics directly to my computer, the normal way…and I don’t use Photobucket.
It was Stel having the problem, and I was trying to give her a “work-around”, as it’s called, cos she does use Photobucket but not Firefox."+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++(I may be wrong, but perhaps Storm was referring to the text that you in the process of writing when Firefox crashed and it was lost? ?)
Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Your fix worked like a charm!! And, I’m back in business again!
Well……I suppose that Marcia and Todd provided a better departure ceremony for you that my family and I could have. As usual, my uncle called my aunt a heifer and it was all down hill from there…..literally…..she went to kick him, lost her balance and rolled all the way down the hill.
I’m looking forward to your return in December. Enjoy the world and stay safe!

It was Stel having the problem, and I was trying to give her a “work-around”, as it’s called, cos she does use Photobucket but not Firefox.
