“Say hello to my little fren’, Darlene!”But, seriously, isn’t it nice how Petey helped Alice get over her fear of cicadas—and create a new race of Super Cicadas?

    Yesterday was a repeat of September 29, 2007 (but in b&w), and the first 2 Sunday strips in the rerun:September 30, 2012 repeated September 16, 2007October 7, 2012 repeated September 23, 2007.But this isn’t a repeat of September 30, 2007. It’s a repeat of October 7, 2007, one week later. Apparently, the rerun won’t be a total rerun.

I never imagined that Petey would take cicadas better than I did.

I once went camping at Angel Creek, near Wells, Nevada. The cicadas had hatched and the sound of their chirping was almost deafening.

This strip answered one of life’s mysteries: why do men infantilize women? It must be a way to cope with their fear of women. Thank you, Mr. Thompson!

Luckily, there’s no cicads where I live.

When I was alice’s age, my marble collection were the little people that inhabited the flat towns I built of a meager ammount of blocks. Never had more than 2 dolls total and 2 stuffed animals, but once I got better at sketching I was very creative (and risque) with paper dolls. I made all my own clothes during my marriage and even took in dressmaking for a while.

Late in the year, some cicadas come down where I can pick them up. It’s fun to put one on my shirt and it looks like a pin… that walks. They also seem like little, buzzing wind-up toys if you hold on to them. I always put them back gently.

When I lived in Delaware the only thing I remember about the Cicadas was the noise. It was as loud as the surf if you lived at the beach in CA (which I did). Hmm, that would make for an interesting white noise machine flavor. ;-)

I love this strip. I’m finishing the Gregor the Overlander series by Suzanne Collins, with talking cockroaches and bats, scorpions and spiders. There’sa character called Boots, 3 years old and loves all the creepy crawlies.

I think the cicadas are pretty cool! We always have some, but I love when they do the massive hatch.
