Didn’t know Earl was a swinger did you?

Like the question Tuvia in “Fiddler On the Roof” asks his wife after being married 20 plus years: “Do you love me?”

If you’re still on the swing then you’re happy.

If you have to ask, you could be happier.

They aren’t swinging, they are just going through the motions.

Doesn’t necessarily mean you are happy or love them—inertia and fear of the unknown can make people stay as well.

Walking together, the spontaneity of enjoying the kids’ swings, yeah, I see a happy couple. Even tho Earl’s final comment could be taken as sarcasm, I see a picture of two people comfortable with each other, even when they are sometimes swinging in different directions.

When your married that long you just used to each other.

After 45years it’s hard to swing lol

I prefer and live Thelma Ritter’s character’s comment from the original Rear Window, “When Miles and I got married, we were a couple of maladjusted misfits. We are still maladjusted misfits—and we have loved every minute of it.”We have indeed. 30 years of blissful misfitting, because we fit together nicely.
