I don’t think anyone was Raven for that joke.

The kid’s got Poe-tensile.

Or, in this case, “The Pet On The Pendulum”.

I agree with the principal. That was lame.

Rats!I thought “Travels with Charley” made more sense!A “pet” doesn’t have to be a poodle… and the “pendulum” in the story isn’t a playground swing.

But Charley really WAS a standard poodle, who went on adventures with Steinbeck…and school is always an adventure for Caulfield.

Fairportfan… meant to say….my “comedy” often dies.I guess it’s just taking the easy route.

Maybe he would have been more appreciative if Caulfield brought in a Cask of Amontillado?

He’d have a harder time bringing a black cat.

Well, if you want a Poe excuse for easy comedy, you could always go with The Tell-Tale Fart. Doesn’t get much easier than that! Susan, I love the avatar! Does your wand have spell check? Happy haunting, and fly safe, my friend! Happy Halloween, everybody!

He’s just a Poe boy from a Poe family… got this off FB a while back.

I still don’t believe Caulfield’s intent wasn’t Steinbeck.

Caulfield has never before made a pun out of his literary costume. I think that Mallett did this deliberately, knowing that a lot of people would think of Steinbeck.
