Dear cartoonist: Go look up the meaning of “cogent” and use it three times correctly in complete sentences. It does not mean what you think it means. Until you do this, we must consider you a threat to the education of the youth of the world and to the survival of the English language, unless you provide us with cogent evidence to the contrary.

Cogent is, indeed, being used incorrectly. I’m glad my fellow grammar Nazi’s have noticed.
