The Great Gazoo would have been less out of place and more at home on The Jetsons.

The explanation for all the stuff on the Flintstones is fairly simple… they actually live in the future, after society collapsed due to whatever reason (disease, famine, war, somebody actually recreating dinosaurs who got loose and OH HEY THAT ACTUALLY FITS WELL, DOESN’T IT?). Humans regress to a basically stone-age level, but with enough memories of what we lost to figure out more primitive methods.

I like The Great Gazoo, not least because he was voiced by Harvey Korman. But then I was a small child in the 1970s.
