For what it’s worth, I find him very revolting.

Gweedo, I don’t think the police will bother with a revolutionary with no followers, no charisma, and no brains, he’s more of a danger to himself than to the government.

Then revolt against revolution, in other words, conform.

There was a strip-thread in Peanuts where Linus had decided to become a fanatic, though a “wishy-washy” one (as he confided to Lucy when she asked him what he was going to be fanatical about). By wishy-washy, he meant “turn anything at all into an argument”.

Che can easily model himself after Linus in that strip-thread (coincidentally, both this strip and Peanuts set in the same state–a once-revealed zipcode showed Peanuts to be set in Bay-area city/town of Sebastopol).

“Go back to some of the old beatle baileys and look at Lt. Fuzz when they first had him appear.”

If you’re thinking of the black guy in “Beetle Bailey”, his name is Lieutenant Flap. Lt. Fuzz is the “poindexter” who’s always sucking up to his superiors. See this page:

prasrinivara: I remember those strips. In one of them, Linus expressed a desire to be a “wild-eyed fanatic”. My brother once took off his shirt, noticed how his greasy hair was standing up, and noted he looked like Linus did in that strip.

Obviously, Che has never heard of a certain Irish joke.

An Irishman is asked “Who rules here, and what’s the government like?” to which he answers, “I dunno the answer to either of your questions, but I’m against it!”

Well, If Che is bored, He could always go over to Candorville and help that woman revolt against her boss.

I must confess, when drawing this character I get the urge to toss him right out through the panel, head first so he lands squarely on you readers keyboards where you can than chase him around trying to squash him with a fly swatter.

    Just say’in.

Yep, quite the cast of characters in Beetle Bailey, and every last one a cheap stereotype. Reminds me why I don’t read it. And Carlos, it’s good to know that Che is supposed to be a pain in the rear. He is.

Baldo mostly hangs with Cruz. Who is this Che carácter anyway, señor Castellanos? What does he represent? ¿El poder hispano? The Hispanic power?

prasrinivara, Schulz may once have used the Zip for Sebastapol in Peanuts, but that can’t be considered conclusive. Wherever it is they live, they get snow in the winter.

The environment is more reminiscent of the St. Paul Minnesota of Sparky’s childhood than the Santa Rosa California of his later years.

(Although… Linus once also said he planned on ending up working in a major San Francisco law firm. Maybe that’s him in the next cubicle!)

and all these years, I thought stereotyping was when I used both hands on the keyboard. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; its amazing what a person can learn from you good folks.
