I am outraged, yes, OUTRAGED at the vile, sexist, anti-boy remarks by this, this, this person with the big hair! I’m a boy (well, I was, a number of decades ago), and I read, eagerly. Even FA and FB! So there!

Regarding D.J. Cashier, there were many woman who dressed as men and served. Some followed their husbands and boyfriends, others served for various other reasons. I do not believe any went the route of D.J. after the war though. As an aside, I read a news story of a woman participating as a soldier in a civil war re-enactment that was denied the right to participate by park officials because she was female. Rather ironic I thought.

Most people I know, male and female, read newspapers and books (fiction and nonfiction), but I think the younger they are the fewer books they read … and newspapers don’t even make the list for most of them if they are less than twenty years old.

In the publishing industry it is generally accepted that if you wish to sell lots of books that are written for “young people” you must cast a young girl as the protagonist (think “The Hunger Games”) … but of course “Harry Potter” sat that on it’s ear!!! … and, it times past, Robert Louis Stevenson’s books were well read and most of his protagonist were boys … so? where does that leave us?

It’s obvious you’re not a runner. Runners all (well, most all) know that the Swedish ‘fart’ means ‘speed’ in English. We know that because of the term ‘fartlek’ which means ‘speed play’. ‘Fläkt’ seems to have similar meanings in English to ‘fan’. It can mean ‘enthusiast’, ‘ventilator’, or ‘breeze’. While an American fart might be a fast breeze, it doesn’t look like that would be the correct translation here. I don’t suppose you know what kind of store it was?

RE: SIVAR ARNÉRMy Swedish isn’t the greatest but a literal translation would be: HE – SHE – NO. I’m inclined to give it a broader " He-She- Not ! "Ingen is no in Swedish.

All I can find about Han-Hon-Ingen is that it’s a novel. However, one of my buddies in Sweden has suggested “He-She-Nobody” as a good translation for the title.

Elevator sign in the Copenhagen train station. You take this elevator to get out at the Revent-Lowsgade exit. Press the “hertil” button (means “call”), and the “i fart” (traveling) light will illuminate letting you know that the elevator is coming.

I have to correct the “Linguist”- You got “he” and “she” correct, but “Ingen” in the context of the book cover would mean, “no one”. The book title all together is, “He-She-No one”. I don’t know what the book is about, though. Transsexuals, maybe? A bisexual who contemplates giving up both men and women? Swedish Wikipedia doesn’t give details about the book itself, but SIVAR ARNÉR was a huge existentialist.
