The early pilots used to send bricks to each other by air mail to keep the air mail business going.

Since these are FOOD items, FOOD stamps are appropriate. If the store is letting her buy non-eligible items, maybe THEY are the problem, or did she separate into two orders? Try a budget, maybe? Many people at my wife’s office bitch about this all the time, but they eat out every day for lunch, stop at Starbucks on the way in, and keep smoking their 3 packs a day, while crying about not having any money! Oh, and buying that NEW iPAD, etc. every time one comes out!

I recently spent close to two years on food stamps (the wonderful company I worked for sent my job to India). Ate the cheapest food I could find so I could splurge and buy myself a nice meal once or twice a month. Stop being so damn smug. Living on food stamps is a nightmare, not a pleasure.

It’s always easier to look down on others not as fortunate as ourselves. It make us feel, somehow, superior. It’s also easier to brand those reliant on government assistance programs, as welfare cheats, lazy, breeders, incorrigible drains on society, etc.etc. It’s easier to believe these lies, than accept the truth. The truth is that more and more of us are being forced to swallow our pride and seek help from our government , due to economic setbacks, job loss, loss of pension funds, climatic disasters etc. For those of you so smug in your self-righteous indignation about food stamps, beware ! As mega-storm Sandy is proving, – YOU MAY BE NEXT !

No Sunday Shoe here – but I found the Sunday Shoe in the Denver Post on-line comics – so there WAS a Sunday shoe which was posted. Hope Go Comics is not in the midst of losing a bunch of their Sunday comics!
