There are some children from whom nothing can be hidden! Elly looks worried about Farley, probably because he had issues just a few months ago from eating bad food.
Chocolate is not nearly as bad for dogs as raisins. Our Lab once ate almost a pound of baseball sale chocolate a son had left in reach without ill effect, but a single box of raisins can destroy the kidneys of even a fairly large dog. Something in the grapes….
i would imagine that the timeline of this strip now was before the dangers of chocolate were known. the strip i can’t stand is fred basset where giving fred chocolate is commonplace
Parrots are not supposed to have dairy, but Cuddles cockatoo loved vanilla icecream as well as clam chowder with cream (which was part of my supper today). She died in 2008 but it had nothing to do with her diet. She will be cremated when I am so our ashes can be mixed.

If the dog shouldn’t eat it; most likely you shouldn’t either.

It says in Bman73’s article that the theobromine in chocolate can cause diarreah and vomiting in dogs. No wonder Ellie isn’t happy.

Elizabeth tries unsuccessfully to kill Farley…but in another 15 years or so, little sister April will finish the job.

Well, any chocolate could kill Farley. And how’s Lizzie supposed to know that? She’s a kid!

Hershey’s kisses likely don’t have enough real chocolate to hard a dog. It’s the real stuff you worry about.
But sugar alone is reason enough not to fed your pet candy.

Dogs shouldn’t be allowed to chew gum, eat mints, etc. because of an ingredient they contain called Xylitol that is EXTREMELY poisonous to them!!!!!
In case you didn’t/don’t know about this, see the following article to find out why . . .
