Researchers have managed to cure paralysis caused by spinal damage in rats by adding a nerve detour around the injury! Gemma Fletcher of Sheffield, England, had her daughter delivered by cesarean section at 8 months after doctors discovered she had a kidney tumor even bigger than her baby! Aaron Fotheringham of Las Vegas, Nev., USA, taught himself to do backflips in his wheelchair at age 14 and he is now a professional wheelchair stuntman at age 20!

Part of the treatment was to get the rats highly motivated to try to walk. I heard the researchers used chocolate for that.

I was wondering about why the rats were paralysed. Was that just how they were found to be or did someone paralyse them on purpose?

Someone once designed a racing wheel chair.Took it out for a trial run, and passed a couple joggers.Heard one say "Boy, are out of shape – that guy in a wheel chair just passed us!!
