What? The punchline wasnā€™t ā€œthe best defense is a good offenceā€?

Proginoskes, No, in this case, I think itā€™s ā€œNo defense is the best offenseā€¦.ā€ Pig had no defense, and that helped Bobā€™s offense a lotā€¦ā€¦..

Coach Bob is just doing his job: mustering the best offense he can. Of course, playing against Pig really makes his game look betterā€¦.

Coach Bobā€™s team should employ Rat ā€“ heā€™s the most offensive character in the strip!

If we could still rate strips, Iā€™d give this the lowest, and I love the wordplay strips. To me, the two words donā€™t sound the same at all and thereā€™s no way any coach, from anywhere, no matter how rural, backward, or television-free, would confuse the two. ā€¦ just my opinion.

ā€œPearlsā€ operates under an unusual legal code.Apparently, a person can ā€“ without fear of arrest, prosecution or even litigation ā€“ walk up to Pig and kick him, club him, or punch him in the face anytime.

Ouch. This implies that Coach Bob pronounces offense like someone unfamiliar with football. They call it AW-fence, Pastis, not uh-FENCE. Ah well, good effort.

I thought Pig was going to reveal that he thought Bobā€™s back yard was open plan, and his neighbor had frequent bonfires. So Bob took a lot of heat for the lack of a fence..

Well you canā€™t really blame coach Bob. Heā€™s probably been a croc in previous lives and has anger issues based on being killed so many times. Youā€™d probably take offense too.

@packratjohn:) I really shouldnā€™t lay the hate on a strip I like so much. After all, I didnā€™t actually hear what Pig said. ā€¦Maybe his subconscious did him in with a substitution. (Iā€™m also weakening on the coachā€™s familiarity with certain words.) [grumble, grumbleā€¦]
