santa: an early christmas present for me, Raymond and Louie?
...what a thoughtful-
'reindeer poop bags'
Ray: yo kinda left a mess here last year that we got blames for you know?
Lou: just saying,
DRY Sorry I didn’t get back yesterday. I actually read your yesterday comments about 20 minutes before posting this one!You see … I cooked an 18lb Turkey yesterday. From frozen … and damn, it was DELICIOUS!!! (I suggest you try it next time you cook a bird… it prevents juices from draining, and contamination of the kitchen, since you don’t thaw it for 4-5 days, and because no juices drain out, it’s much more moist then thawed birds. ).Anyway… if I bug you with the countdown (I thought it was a game…) let me know, and I’ll stop. However, for today …
Allan, I guess when you type something it comes out differently than when you actually talk to someone! It is a game and I ENJOY IT IMMENSELY! It wouldn’t be Christmas without it!
Santa is not amused. But then Raymond and Louie shouldn’t have to take that wrap for reindeer droppings, even if it seems unlikely that the crew really are too dim to know the difference…..
To those asking:You need to add 30-50% time from frozen, and I didn’t use a bag, but I used tin foil fairly close to the bird (like 1/8" away)...My bird was 18pounds, and I cooked it from 11:45am-7:15pm or 8.5 hours, which was a bit longer then the package said. (I think it said 4.5-5.5 hours). Then we let it sit for a while.I didn’t REALLY time it – I used an oven proof meat thermometer. When it read 185F in the deep breast area, I KNEW she was done, and I tell ya, not one person complained. BUT yeah, add 30-50% time for cooking from frozen.
We have done this Christmas Countdown for what, a LONG time! Just for kicks I went back through the archives. Go back to Dec. 19, 2010 and check the comments!
Looks like you have some herb dressing on poor TOM! What did you use, Allan? I am always interested in recipes and such. I have more cookbooks than I ever use, but I keep them anyway! :-D Some are my mom’s and aunt’s from YEARS ago.
Allan Yummy! I use a mixture which pretty much has the herbs you mentioned. And I believe Rachael Ray highly endorsed EVOO, doesn’t she? I watch her show once in a while, and I like it.

If it weren’t for the antlers, it would be difficult to tell the difference between Louie and the reindeer! Look at the last frame… just sayin
