It would be a great surprise to me if he passed the test. Then again it would be a great surprise that he finished it in the allotted time.

Looks like fabric from an old sofa, maybe with the sofa still in it.

I think it’s early Victorian lampshade.

She’ll retire when Calvin grows up.

Take it easy on Miss Wormwood. Keep in mind we ony see her through Calvin’s eyes….when you’re his age every adult is ancient.

I read these as a teen the first go around. I always thought Mrs. W as one of the few who were onto his tricks. I think she’s wise to the ways of a young dreamer.

If Calvin thinks it’s great, then beware. For some reason this reminds me of the Married With Children episode where Al has to return a library book. I’m a math teacher, and Calvin’s teacher is my hero.

Geezz…Miss Wormwood is a great character, I’d like to see more of her.

Mrs Wormwood (and her dress) reminds me of my fourth grade teacher. That was around 1955.

Calvin also was first to come up with snakes on a plane.

Calvin needs to learn finesse if he ever hopes to surprise anyone.

Long ago I had a teacher who was very-very mean, old, and would whip you at the drop of a hat—-also ugly as sin (really).We never wanted to get sick though cause she had a twin sister that was worse who would substitute for her. Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire.

Mrs Wormwood didn’t just fall off a turnip truck

. . . not to mention that even if she was born at night, it certainly wasn’t LAST night!!! She’s been doing this job long enough that kids like Calvin don’t fool her one bit!!!!! ;-)

This life is a test. It is only a test. If this had been a real life, you would have been told where to go and what to do….

We learned to hate the teacher of the all-girl class across the hall. She used to regularly cross the hall to administer punishment to the boys (never girls) in our class for alleged playground infractions!

Oh no, we’ll find out very soon and I think a few spoilers have been dropped by readers about it already. (I know what’s in the bag.)
