I just watched a programme made by the Biography Channel. With far fewer adbreaks on European TV, we were made more aware of the way the public apparently has to be reminded of what they were watching in the US after each one. Thereād be a freeze-frame and then theyād sum it all up againā¦three or four times.
I tried watchingthe Indy car race yesterday having added ESPN to my viewing package. There were eight ads in the first twenty five minutes. This was followed by sn ad about every four minutes with the ad break lasting the same length of time. I cancelled the ESPN package at the end of the race. Ive never seen worse tv apart from British soaps. At least the formula one race was shown ad free as always.
Maybe itās age, but if I truly try to watch all of the commercials during a break, I simply canāt remember what Iāve seen. Too many, too fast, too diverse. I swear I have seen ads from competing car manufacturers during the same break! Makes me want to rush out to my Ford dealer because I like the new Malibu Quad-Cabā¦..I really, really like āThe Big Bang Theoryā, but it seems, repeat, seems, to have the most commercials during it break. I donāt watch much TV though, and no sports at all.
Actually, itās been shown that the north american attention span is much shorter than in some other nations. Something about the pace of life being slower, and people taking more time to appreciate things there.
The formula one race I watched yesterday had ads with it, Tog. The stuff going on in the pits made the race, IMHOā¦television = bubblegum for the mindā¦
Having read everyoneās comments, this is what I understood: āIām looks an we Calvinās and American why whoa I I what why 2nd whatās sorry attention whereās hobbes he this TBS is very maybe they actually you what they ignore Iād in Calvinās all I ba ha did when same you I theā¦ā-Is that what you meant? Sorry, where was I?

Hobbes is so right. The average American can only wait about 15 minutes before they get impatient.

Calvinās attention span primarily covers only his own thoughts, words and actions.

All TV I watch is pre-recorded and I fast forward through commercials. The DVR or TIVO box is the greatest invention of the century.
