I find the MOST interesting thing is that all these “WARS” are declared by politicos that NEVER got within a hundred miles of an ACTUAL War’s front lines.

If they HAD they’d be far more careful using it, even metaphoricaly.

How about the war on America? 50,000 gun deaths a year, 12,000 of which are deliberate homicides. Five or six assault rifle attacks since the Sandy Hill incident.

I just took some kids to see a movie— Rise of the Guardians. Great animated artwork, hokey story. Anyway, childhood heroes and villains were represented as Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Jack Frost, Sand Man, Pitch Black. We start early with giving the kids stories and metaphorical lessons to draw on. The usual concept of believing in fantasy was the important thing for the kids to take away from the movie, Rise of the Guardians. I guess I can’t put it down too much, it is an important part of our culture, and it has been important historically speaking.

At the same time, I think perhaps those who read the bible and understand all of the concepts of it in a literal way, may be missing a larger picture. Maybe we don’t have to see God as an old man with a long white beard anymore. We are all grown up now. But the little ones continue to need the Easter Bunny and so the circle continues…

I think Fox is too much like a Disney-themed organization to really make a big deal out of Passover, although they say they are all about our Judeo-Christian country.

I guess it is a mixed blessing for artists to have such instant feedback in a comments section. They can immediately hear some who appreciate their work. They also hear from some who don’t seem to understand how long it takes to do a comic strip and the way story arcs work in a published newspaper… Since Fox News is around 24/7, and is only a puppet for the GOP, I will never tire of someone criticizing them. After all, Fox certainly has time to get their point across, whereas it doesn’t take long to read a comic strip once a day and the artist does have to take a break sometimes so a comic strip isn’t published daily…

@thebird55Just saw your post of 12-17 asking if I had a permit.

    Do now! Thanks.

FYI Tom Ryan is still going (at 86!), and there may be a new (very limited edition), collection published this year or next.

Are the yahoos REALLY still listening to Fox ‘news’? How many lies do they need to hear before…never mind, they are republicans. There is no such thing as ‘too many lies’.

So… Let’s put the War back in “War Department” (Bowdlerized in the forties to ‘Defense’ Department – HA!)

Then since Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio is leaving Congress, let’s all urge President Obama to take his advice and create a Department of Peace, and offer him the Cabinet job! It’s gonna be much harder than War, but well worth doing, don’cha think?

I vaguely remember people trying to fight the war on war, specifically the Vietnam War, many years ago. That was a major time for fighting the war on war…
