This reminds me of a part of a recent Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj en route to a comic-con in Bakersfield, California stop to pose for a few pictures as Star Trek: The Next Generation characters in some California desert background until their car gets stolen.
And does one of the dogs almost resemble Snoopy from Peanuts in this strip?
Ah…. the mundane downfall of the Federation…. financial ruin after Star Trek crew sued by the Dog Asteroid (formerly Planet) Pluto for mislabelling packaged snack food.
Meanwhile…. the comic wouldn’t open for me last night…. Magnified or not, I could only see a sliver of the top….
Missed my oppor-pun-ity, or something….
Meanwhile, sorry, simpsonfan, my friend, but if a misplaced badge or wrong color uniform can spoil a Star Trek joke for you….you need to get out more. :)
A bit late in the day for this, but…..
To me, the point of a comic strip is to give me the gist of an idea, and twist it.
Just because a cartoonist dreams up a funny take on some aspect of life, I don’t expect him to be an expert on it…. nor do I expect him to hold his tongue if he isn’t.
To that end, which is making me laugh, I do NOT expect a cartoonist to be a lot of things:
1) An expert on everything. Not on Star Wars, Star Trek, current movies, music, news or any subject except cartooning….
2) A perfect speller, grammarian, fine artist, or mathematician.
3)Meticulous about continuity, perfect of memory, or even funny every single day.
What I do expect is humor, decent art that doesn’t make me cringe, and a good laugh now and then.
I’m very happy and grateful to get all that for free….and to get it without ads for 99¢ a month.
Some of the Star Trek with weird rocks was filmed not far from here at Vasquez Rocks County Park. In a scene the crew had to dig up some object but being a Co. park they were not allowed to dig. They had to bring their own dirt and put it on a tarp. Dug in that for the film then took away.

Sirius isn’t a planet, so maybe it’s Pluto.

Snoopy, Scooby Doo, Blue, Underdog (?). Can’t identify the second dog from the left.

That little purple alien looks a lot like the one that shows up in Bizarro comics.
