And grandmom would carry that card in her purse for weeks and chuckle every time she read itā€¦ which would be twice a day, at least.

I loved things like that when my kids were that age. And if my grandson ever did something like that I wouldā€™ve definitely kept it.

My mother always writes her first and last name on cards to me. It makes us laugh. She signs it ā€œLove, mom, Liduina Bettencourtā€ Okay, how many moms do I have and how many people named Liduina do I know???? LOL

Sounds like something Buddy the Elf would write!

ā€œWow, youā€™re fast. Iā€™m glad I caught up to you. I waited 5 hours for you. Why is your coat so big? So, good news ā€“ I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?ā€¦ "

Iā€™ve been told that the best way to write a letter was to do it as if you were there having a conversation with the person. In that regard, Katieā€™s letter is a very good example.

It is the kind of mistake a child would make ā€“ cute ā€“ so I read it as grades and smiled wryly!

This letter put a tear in my eye, really! I remembered the letters my children sent to us when they went to camp. BTW, Iā€™ve kept them all. Also, when we went away on business trips, and our children were at their grandparentsā€™, my oldest daughter kept a journal about their daily happenings, for us to read when we came back, and Iā€™ve kept that too.
