Hello, Ernie. Still watching over things, eh? Guy’s been doing a great job – he needs a raise!

Good sign that he reported that there are children – plural – involved. Must mean he has some sort of plan for Sluggo!

Missions can fail when there are too many people in need and the people that use to support the missions need the services of missions. We ALL are one paycheck away from being homeless and needing help. For those of you that think I am wrong, just remember the S&L and mortgage troubles that stole peoples retirement funds. Those people thought they had it made with retirement and no worries, found themselves working for fast food shops and store greeters

All right, Phil! You’ll do fine with the mission. I’m sure it just needs a change in how it is run.

Because missions need volunteers and donated money. If yyou have little of the latter, it doesn;t matter haw many of the first you have.

Live on Fritzi’s salary while you write the insider book on what it’s like to come back from comic strip limbo.

Three days with no Nancy, Aunt or Sluggo. While I can’t remember even one day without them, three days is jaw-dropping!

Apart from everything else, a mission generally has to pay rent, or, perhaps, a mortgage. Sure, the diocese (the group of churches that the bishop is bishop of) can provide /some/ funds, but there are plenty of missions in the average diocese, and, these days, even full-blown parishes often need to be bailed out—not to mention all the money the Church has had to pay out over pedophile priests in recent times. (I’m not snarking here—I’m only pointing out that the Bishop can’t just say, “Oh, we have to keep this mission running, cause Phil’s a great guy.” As the Treasurer of Canterbury says in Dorothy L. Sayers great play, “The Zeal of Thy House”, “…humanly speaking, the accounts will have to go through the Treasury…”)
