The Man from Uncle was one of those shows where the sidekick made a better character than the protagonist. Ilya was cool. McCallum did OK in Sapphire and Steel too but it just wasn’t the same.

I don’t know the location of that pic from the mountains, but I think you can rule out Japan and the British Commonwealth (except Canada). That little pickup looks like it’s driving away.
The mountain pass is probably in Tibet. I found the picture at this website: http://wallpaperwise.com/Mountain_Pass_HD-4697.html#.UOM5PW8zqSo. There’s a quote from the Dali Lama which suggests the picture is from Tibet: his homeland.
Correction noted… BTW, I just discovered that most (if not all) of the Sapphire and Steel series is there on You Tube.I’m constantly amazed by how easy it is to find stuff on the web. A few weeks ago I was looking for a way to convert some obscure old Mexican folk music cassettes to mp3 when I discovered that it had already been done and all I had to do was download them….

Those peacocks are salt cellars, I believe. My uncle used cellars at each plate side when I was growing up. Now his son collects them.

Those are open salt cellars and small salt spoons on the blog. Has a short history of un-coated and coated salt.

I’m anxious to see Vlad’s missing limb count for next year. He raised the bar pretty high this year.

My mistake. The site generates a random quote, but the picture still reminds me of Tibet or Nepal in the Himalayas.

Found the mountain pass picture on a number of other sites, all identifying it as a himalayan road in Tibet. No original source yet.
