Cathy: You said i needed nothing else to make my new handheld work! Man: I assumed you'd have a computer with a CD drive and a USB port. Cathy: You swore I didn't need to know anything! Man: I assumed you'd have basic data-entry skills an/or a 36-bit printer to download the help text. Cathy: You promised you'd be here 24/7... Hah! The store was closed! The phone was on voice mail! Well, Cathy, if it’s any consolation, 11 years later most of us do have all that stuff now…

Forget the innocent look on that salesman’s face — he is enjoying himself, mostly because he knows he’ll be selling her something else!
Mom, thanks for digging deeper into the DCFD site. Wasn’t Aaron hurt another time, and does anyone know the date for that? If there are no mentions of these incidents, then we have to look harder at *AnonaMouse*’s theory that we may have been served some fiction. I would hate that, but I would surely like to know whether to keep worrying or to move on.

Sometimes people invent an online persona with a more interesting life than their own simply because their own real life is so awful. I’m thinking of people with severe disabilities or even terminal illness. Not of course that I know anything much about our friends here, other than what they told us.
One of the last things Aaron said, shortly before Hallowe’en, was that Dr Billy was “going to put him in the lab again”, and he hoped he wouldn’t be turned into something horrible. Now, that may have been just a throwaway line, as I thought when I read it, but in the light of their silence ever since – well, I have wondered whether there was more to that “lab” than I realised.
I deeply and genuinely hope that I’m wrong, and that we’ll hear some good news from them soon. But sadly, I’m old enough to realise that things on the Internet aren’t always exactly as they seem to be.

Yes. I did that when I bought an ’XM" radio. Thought all I had to do was plug it in. Turns out it is more technical than that. I had at least three different tech support “people” trying to help me. Never got it. I was in tears. I just sent the thing back.

You beat me to it, lightenup.
Although, I wasn’t going to flat-out SAY it. Um … thanks? Ha.
Thanks also to everyone for continuing to search for Aaron and Billy. We have a great, and caring, group here.
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

Hi Cathyites!! She should have assumed that he was lying.
I agree lightenup, whatever their status or situation was, they seemed to be really nice people and I would still love to have them back. In fact I would prefer that they were spoofin us to something bad happening to them.

Well, I’m back, folks—to celebrate a milestone …
My 4,000th comment here on GoComics!
I know I’m nowhere near people like lightenup, but a milestone nonetheless.
And there’s no other group with whom I’d rather celebrate.
Cheers, and here’s to my next 4,000 comments!
