No, Cathy, you don’t deserve a new dress. I have more respect for my parents’ generation who buckled down, worked and saved when the going got tough. More recent generations go shopping when it gets tough. Sigh.Good morning, Cathy clan! It was a fast, busy weekend and I’m exhausted, although it was really nice to see my mom. She’s doing fairly well, although it’s still debatable whether she’s able to live on her own and/or drive. Lots of difficult decisions to make.

Savings: blown.Pension plans: squandered.Available funds: $0.00 [aka: flat-busted broke].Nerves frayed. . . trust eroded . . . spirits trashed. So what’s a depressed girl like Cathy to do???Why, go shopping, of course … because she “deserves” it!!!!!With a c.c., that’s next months problem so who cares now?!?And then she wonders why she never has any money . . . [Ouch! I just did an eyeroll so hard my brain now hurts!!!!!]
Hi, rgcviper!
Hi, lightenup! Glad your visit went well and that your mom is doing okay. Sorry about the difficult decisions still to make but I know that whatever you decide to do, it will be for the best. You just have to believe that, too. (((Hugs, girlfriend!!!)))
Hello and Happy Monday, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really nice weekend!

Sad to admit, I’ve done that — but at least not lately (and not with no money to spend).
lightenup — I’m glad to hear that your Mom is doing well enough that you are even considering that she might live on her own and/or drive. I know the decisions are tough, but they don’t necessarily have to be permanent, do they?
argy-bargy — back in my publication days, I did a survey the day after Christmas in the year of 9/11 — just to ask people if they were out in the mall because they were trying to do their patriotic duty and spend a whole bunch of money. Most of them were NOT — and some of the answers were so amusing — one guy said he was in the mall to get away from his wife. Some were also sad — one told me he was in the mall to forget that his wife had died recently. I find that I’m so tired of hearing that I should be spending more — that I actually spend less. When I was in Hawaii recently, I had such sticker shock that I only made 5 transactions on my credit card — and they were all under $50. Practically nothing was worth what they were charging for it.

“Deserve”? Meh.
“Want in enough of a (kinda funny) O.C.D. way to merit an [eye-roll]?” NOW we’re talkin’.
HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
