Saleswoman: A $60 value for $14.99! Cathy: If she wants to exchange it, will the gift receipt say "$60 value!"... or will it just be a $14.99 credit? Saleswoman: $14.99 credit. Cathy: But it is a $60 value! Saleswoman: But you're only spending $14.99. Cathy: But she's a $60 value friend! Saleswoman: The value of friendship is not measured by the amount of the gift but by the thought we send with it! Cathy, writing: Dear Beth, this gift is non-exchangeable.

Cathy, you’d have saved all of this time aggravating yourself if you’d just bought the stupid sweater for $14.99, took the tag off, packed it in a plain wrapper and be done with it! Arguing with sales associates gets you no-where! (I’m going to go with the famous Cathy eye-roll!) Its Saturday!!! I hope everyone has a really fun weekend! ;)

If she’s a real friend, she won’t care how much you spent, just that you thought of her. Hello Cathy friends! Happy, happy Saturday!

Send them some lottery tickets. Adults don’t need “gifts”. Donate a toy or food in their name to a needy family program over the holidays. Donate to a pet shelter. There are other options out there. Laugh at Cathy’s antics, but don’t follow her example.

I hate stores that do this, put a fake price on something then “mark it down”. Just tell me how much it will cost, don’t lie to me and insult my intelligence. If no one ever bought one for $60 it is not a $60 value. It is a $15 sweater.

Cathy should just give her $60. No exchange (or embarrassment) necessary.

Overthinking things just a bit, Cathy?
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.

All the stores do it — mark it up to mark it down. I guess they think we are dumber than dirt.
