Mr. Pinkley: New questions for the new world of business: Charlene: If my Manolo Blahnik flip-flops cost more than the lease payment on your luxury SUV, are they considered serious office attire? Woman: If I use my lunch hour to get a pedicure to prepare my toes for the Gucci flip-flops that match my power suit, can I deduct just the pedicure or also the take-out salad as a business expense? Woman 2: If I wear Savorski crystal fli-flops with glitter polich, and the client gawks at my toe cleavage in the copy room, is it sexual harassment? Cathy: Can I wear a dressy flip-flop on casual friday, or is that just not done? Mr. Pinkley: All concerns are being noted by our personnel director, who I'm sure has some new questions of her own... Woman 3: If I'm wearing flip-flops and latte spills on my bare foot, do I sue the coffee company, the flip-flop manufacturer, or you?

It doesn’t matter, ladies. In most offices, flip-flops are a no-no in any event!

The only time our employer allowed flip flops was when I was having surgery on my foot, and nothing else could be used. And (even though I had a small cast on part of my foot and was using a walker) I had to bring in a doctor’s note.

There always has to be somebody to sue, doesn’t there?

Do not wear flip flops anywhere near a male who has a foot thing! That warning aside, flip flops are banned from the office mostly because of the slapping sound when you walk. Very annoying to others.

You can tell it’s Andrea in the one panel for sure, because of her attitude about her toe cleavage being gawked at by any male in the vicinity.

Another aside….keep those toe nails short ladies, please.

“Toe cleavage” … that was a new one for me.
To flip, or not to flip? That is the question. Though, seems like the answer is not, based on the comments so far.

I don’t like flip-flops myself. They’re uncomfortable to wear, they give me blisters between my toes and I hate the sound they make when you walk in them. But most of all, not everyone that wears them have the prettiest feet and if there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s looking at someone’s ugly, dirty, talons-for-toenails feet. AACK!!!!! :-(

My feet are small and adorable. As for other people’s less attractive feet….just don’t look down and you’ll be fine.

I normally don’t care what folks do, but I did draw the line when I saw other professors in my dept wearing them to teach in — with mini skirts no less. Yuck!!
