Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for July 14, 2015
Transcript:
Cathy: No visible progress. No increased strength. No cheering crowd. No proud coach. Just me, alone in the living room, with one sore muscle somewhere under the fat and some cheery promises written on the side of a cardboard box. Say what they will about olympic athletes, the real medals should go to those who get out the ab machine on day two.

You know how she is….she should be happy that she has a darling exercise suit on and the matching shoes that are just right!

Sorry Cathy, your accomplishment will be your reward.
Hello Cathy clan, I know I don’t comment everyday so I probably won’t be missed much but I’m going on my first real vacation and won’t be back until next week. We’re going to my honey’s family reunion in the DC area. I’ve barely left Ohio so it’s exciting and a little scary for me.

Enjoy yourself. I have been on 2 vacations in the last 46 years. My DH doesn’t believe in them. (it’s a money thing….he won’t spend it) The last one we went on 22 years ago (outer banks of NC), I paid for with a bit of the money my aunt and uncle left me the year before.

Well…Cathy ain’t wrong here…
Have fun on your vacations, everybody! @QuietStorm – get out of Ohio and see as much of the world as you can! Travel really expands your mind.

Okay. So Cathy’s only been at this for 2 days now . . . and day #1 doesn’t really count since she only spent 20 seconds on the treadmill. Just exactly what kind of results was she really expect-ing to see after such a short period of time? While it’s easier to put the weight on than it is to take it off, putting it on still wasn’t done in a day (or even 2!) so for her to expect her body to be skinny and toned that quickly is a pretty unreasonable expectation — even for Cathy!!!

Hi, rgcviper!
Â
QuietStorm27: You will definitely be missed around here, Girl-friend! Hope you have a really great time while you’re gone andif you get the opportunity, try to see as much of our nation’s cap-itol as you can while you’re in the area. I went there on 8th and 9th grade school trips (more years ago than I care to think about!) and even as a teenager, I really enjoyed all the wonderful history that can be seen and found there!
Â
summerdog: I hear you! With the exception of visiting my in-laws down in Georgia (and, really, who considers visiting your in-laws to be a vacation?!), my husband and I haven’t been anywhere in the last 15 years (and even then, that was a business trip for him that I was lucky enough to be able to go on for a change). He blames it on the dog but I know better. We love and refuse to put her in a kennel so I fully accept that we can’t exactly get on a plane with her and fly to London, Paris, Rome or Madrid (Hey, Sis!!!!!). But there are still plenty of places we can go that’s driving distance from home where she’d be welcome to stay with open arms. I love my hubby to death but I think it’s the whole not wanting to spend any kind of money thing, too. What’s up with that, anyhow? Is it a man/husband thing . . . or are we simply two of the unluckiest wives on earth being married to men who just don’t like to go anywhere or do anything if it costs money? ;-)
Â
Dr. K.F.G.: Glad you’re still here with us but sorry to hear you’llbe leaving us again in September when it seems like we onlyjust got you back again after your last stint with DWB. Do you know how long you’ll be gone this time? I miss you already! :-(
 Â
Hello and Happy Tuesday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyonehad a really nice day today! :-)

QuietStorm27 Of course we will miss you (even those of us who don’t post every day either). I think we did it backwards. When the kids were small (and even as they got big) there was just no money for vacations so we usually spent a week with my parents (they had a pool) or, after we moved closer to my parents, with my wife’s parent. Our vacationing started in 2009 as the work I put into my company finally started to pay off. Now we go at least twice per year – and take the kids and their partners (if they have one) too. My son-in-law-to-be has been on at least 4 vacations with us. And yes, even when your daughters are 30 and 36 it is still fun spending a week at a Disney park.

Oops – almost forgot. I agree with Cathy’s (and that is shocking in itself) last statement. Medals for those who use exercise equipment on the second day (even if only 20 seconds on the first) and special prizes for those still using it a month later – but not for using the equipment as a clothes rack.

Well, ya gotta start somewhere, right?
I’ll still give this one an [eye-roll], though.
HI, MOM. Greetings, Clan.

Happy Vacations to everyone!! :) We just got back from a wedding in London and traveling around Europe (Paris, Amsterdam, and a little tiny town in Germany — Medden I think). Train travel was a little difficult with 2 weeks worth of luggage, but we did it and it is so incredibly convenient. The airlines are a real turn-off though and I hope I never have to fly again.
