Transcript:
Mom: We want the high-speed Internet, Cathy, but we don't know who to call. Cathy: Anyone! Call anyone! Mom: Anyone who? Cathy: Phone company...cable company...online company... Mom: Which one? Cathy: Ask your tech guy. Mom: What tech guy? Cathy: Your regular tech guy can set up the whole thing. Mom: What thing? Cathy: The thing you set up when you call. Mom: Call who? Cathy: Anyone! Call anyone! Dad: Maybe it will all just go away. While the world connects to the universe, Mom and Dad sit alone in the den with the lights off.

Cathy really wasn’t very helpful at all there, was she?

Well, the phone or cable people could both handle it, and given how lost they are she might not be able to explain as she isn’t the most tech-savvy herself. Especially if this happened during the day (the night scene could be later) or when she has something she has to do, like work that had to be done at home or grocery shopping- easily could be after work, the date is September and so get off work, eat, and then you’re finishing errands in the dark…

I’m fairly technical, yet there are plenty of times where I don’t feel like I can handle something. For example, our internet went down over the summer, but my husband was out of town for 2 weeks so I had to handle it myself. At times it was not easy arguing with the cable company and telling them how things were set up..Hello Cathy friends! Things are busy with the start of school activities and homework… yet so far I am smarter than a 5th grader. ;-)

How on earth are they going to set up and run Cathy and Irving’s wedding website if they don’t even know who to call in order to get the high-speed internet they want (and need)? Besides, I thought Irving was their official “tech guy”? I know Cathy’s their daughter but I don’t know why Mom didn’t save herself the agg-ravation of this phone call that went absolutely nowhere but in circles and just contacted him directly to ask for his advice and help instead. Seems like it would have been a lot simpler and much less confusing that way!

I can manage simple things like checking the modem, restarting and cleaning the hard drive for example but if it’s more difficult than that – I need my tech guys starting with my 2nd son.
Hello Cathy friends! I wish you had a “like” button lightenup, I too am smarter than a 5th grader at the moment but she’s gaining on me. :-)

I’m back from my daughter’s wedding – celebrated without a website I might add. Thank you to all who wished us well for the weekend. Everything did go well – the 90% chance of rain held off until after the outdoor ceremony – although a few of us got a little damp in the run for the hall when it started to rain during the after ceremony picture taking. And I did cry – even when walking her down the aisle and putting her hand in the groom’s. And during part of the ceremony – and during the first dance – and especially during my dance with the bride. She chose my father’s favourite piece – Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” in his memory. I could not even see her in front of me for the first part of the dance as my eyes were so full of tears. He would have been so happy to be there. We just got an email from the happy couple today – they have had a first wonderful day in Venice. The hotel, knowing that they were newly-weds (I told them when I booked the room) gave them a king sized bed and a bottle of champage – and not the smaller room I had booked. The ceremony and reception were really well planned – by my daughter pretty much on her own. Definitely not like Cathy’s plans at all.

Well, at least Cathy gave her mom a few options. (Though, looking again, they were pretty vague.)
Sounds like a great wedding, hendelca. Happy you enjoyed it.
